Abstract

The article presents information on deer population in Ohio. It is stated that much of the trouble stems from the fact that deer are herbivores. They eat green plants, nuts, and acorns, browsing their way through woods, parks, and yards, leaving dead branches and a path worn into the ground where nothing will grow. Ohio deer were hunted so extensively in the 1800s that by the beginning of the 20th century they were practically extinct, and they had to be reintroduced into the state.
