Abstract
- The article presents the situation of periodical publication in Bessarabia, beginning with its territorial takeover in 1812 by the Russian Empire, when it was gradually forced into a social-political integration or assimilation. The author presents all the attempts to found a periodical on the territory of Bessarabia, based on historical evidence and archival research, starting with the first Imperial publication in 1854 of a Governmental Bulletin. Romanian publications in Bessarabia had a new chance of existence only at the beginning of the 20th century, after the Revolution from 1905, when an impressive number of new publications left the press.
