Abstract
- This article offers an overview of studies concerning mythico-history and social memory which explain the interface and tensions between myth, history and memory in relation to ideology and praxis of cultural identity. The author emphasizes the uses of oral narratives in historiography and social context in the development of personal and collective identities of difference. She cites that scholars need to critique and transcend genre categories and assumptions from the West such as Euroamerican philosophy in order to understand local and historical consciousness.
