Abstract

The article discusses the incident of asthma among indigenous Australians from the report "Asthma in Australia 2008." Asthma as identified in the report is a prevalent health problem, which is one of the common causes of hospitalization among indigenous Australians. Reasons for this which include life-long exposure to pulmonary toxicants, uncertainty about the nature of the disease, and long-term undertreatment, are speculated. There is also a high prevalence of comorbid conditions that may complicate the management of asthma including diabetes mellitus.
