Abstract

The article presents the authors suggestions on how public libraries and its patrons can save money using the Internet and the Web in the U.S. It highlights five ways to save the library money, as well as ten recommended initiatives to help patrons save money through these technologies. Specifically, among the strategies for libraries to save money include the significance of the library to subscribe to blogs written by librarians rather than purchasing library-related trade journals and attending to online conferences and training. For patrons to save money, the suggestions enclosed the accessing of Mint.com, social networking and web 2.0 sites, and electronic reference services.
