Abstract
- An essay is presented which addresses the connection between humorous responses to trauma and traditional First Nations ethics concerning communication. Fictional writings by Aboriginal authors which address sexual abuse in residential schools are addressed, with particular focus given to works by authors Richard Van Camp, Tomson Highway, and Eden Robinson. The use of storytelling in the examination of past trauma and present problems within a society is also discussed.
