Abstract

The author provides suggestions in revising Diagnostic and statistical manual of mental disorders (DSM-V) to improve the validity of the diagnosis of posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). He says that some people develop symptoms like PTSD after being exposed to subtraumatic stressors. Problems caused by conceptual bracket creep in the definition of trauma are discussed. Recommendations for DSM-V are offered.
