9th International Bielefeld Conference 2009: "Upgrading The eLibrary: Enhanced Information Services Driven by Technology and Economics.".

The article discusses the highlights of the 9th International Bielefeld Conference entitled "Upgrading the eLibrary: Enhanced Information Services Driven by Technology and Economics" held at the Bielefeld University Library in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany from February 3-5, 2009. Particular focus is given to driving forces for upgrading the electronic library to an enhanced library. The event featured several exhibitors. Sijbolt J. Noorda of the European University Association Working Group delivered the opening keynote speech about Open Access.
