Abstract
- The article discusses how the Chinese government has worked to decrease interest and education regarding the Tiananmen Square incident of 1989. The author explains that the Chinese government has silenced those who attempt to discuss the demonstrations publicly in order to limit knowledge among younger generations domestically and internationally. As a result, the author notes a growing indifference towards the incident as people have shifted focus to rising economic problems, among other things. The article notes that many questions regarding the demonstrations in Tiananmen Square remain unanswered in 2009.
