Abstract

The article discusses the approaches made by the U.S. American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) to reduce the energy consumed in cooling the electronics in data centers. It notes the utilization of outdoor air to wetbulb (wb) and airside economizer cycles to develop the required cold aisle inlet delivery conditions. It also relates to the application of the recirculation air cooling by evaporation (RACE) units in ensuring integrity of the equipment.
