Abstract

The article discusses the treatment of prolonged bleeding and the management of dental patients suffering from hemorrhagic diatheses. For patients with hemorrhagic diathesis, hemostatic measures used by the dentist include applying topical thrombin pressure packs to stop the bleeding such as surgicel, oxycel, and gelfoam. For managing delayed bleeding, dentists need to take the patient's history and asks the patient for episodes of severe bleeding after previous dental extractions or minor surgeries.
