Abstract

The article presents a financial risk assessment for South Korea. It notes that the country is not at risk of suffering another currency collapse similar to the one that happened at the end of 1997 because of the volume of its foreign-exchange reserves as of October 2007 amounting to U.S.$260 billion. It cites the major role of conglomerates in the country's economy making it a potential source of instability in the financial markets.
