REPORT ON THE FIFTH INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON MING HISTORY (Xi'an, August 1993).

The article discusses the highlights of the Fifth International Conference on Ming History at the Xi'an People's Hotel in Xi'an, China from August 15 to August 20, 1993. The participants included scholars from the People's Republic of China (PRC), Taiwan, Japan, South Korea, and from the U.S. Topics of papers presented at the conference included economic and institutional history, the Ming founding, and social history. Comments on the papers are offered. A list of participants, along with their institutional affiliation and paper topic, is presented.
