Abstract
- This article focuses on the decision to locate the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) central bank in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia and its implications for the region. GCC Secretary General Abdul-Rahaman Al-Attiyah cites the reasons for choosing Saudi Arabia as the location of the central bank. Particular focus is given to the resilience of Saudi Arabia's banking sector, along with disadvantages associated with the decision. The presence of the GCC bank in Saudi Arabia is not expected to have a major impact on the domestic economy.
