Abstract
- The article critiques the early twentieth century poetry of Chinese immigrants in the United States. It presents textual criticism and analysis on the poems, ideas and concepts which are conveyed by the poems, and the depiction of the life of the immigrants. Poems include "Songs of Gold Mountain," by Marlon K. Hom and "Island: Poetry and History of Chinese Immigrants on Angel Island," by Him Mark Lai, Jenny Lim, and Judy Yung.
