Local tetracycline therapy of the periodontium during orthodontic treatment.

The article presents a case study of a 29-year old woman suffering from mutilated occlusion and anterior splaying of teeth. No medications were being taken by the patient and no allergies to antibiotics was revealed. It discusses the effect of local tetracycline therapy of the periodontium during orthodontic treatment. Results show that the treatment reduced the maxillary incisor protrusion and rotations. The therapy led to a normal clinical status, allowing effective orthodontic movements.
