Abstract
- This article questions the need for businesses in Europe to regulate investments from the United States. The author examines the factors behind the protests against American investors during the 1960s, and notes that overemployment in Europe may be a cause of tensions.Statistical data is presented detailing the importance of foreign investment in European markets. These investments take four forms: a direct branch operation, a wholly owned subsidiary, a joint venture, and a take-over by the U.S.-based company.
