Abstract

The article presents carrier analysis for hemophilia A, a common inherited X-linked bleeding disorder from a wide variety of mutations in the Factor VIII gene located on long arm of X-chromosome at the Xq28 locus. It says that women with positive carrier results should be advised of all reproductive choices including abortion, adoption and in vitro fertilization. It adds that the effective prevention of hemophilia can be achieved through accurate carrier detection and prenatal diagnosis.
