Abstract

The article examines how corporate marketers are employing Twitter and other online social networks to create face-to-face meetings with groups of consumers. The National Hockey League (NHL), employed Twitter to create so-called "Tweetup" parties of hockey fans in 23 cities in the U.S. and Canada to mark the start of the 2009 hockey playoffs.
