Abstract
- The article discusses the effect of perceptions of financial barriers to start-up on the start-up decision itself. It presents a study which uses an econometric approach to analyze the impact of gender differences in individuals' perceptions of difficulties in accessing finance on the start-up decision. Data for the study are taken from the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM) UK 2004 database. The study found that women are around 7.4% more likely to perceive financial barriers to business start-up than men.
