Abstract

The article focuses on the security features in a Rs 500 note of India, which can help in identifying fake currency. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has estimated that the value of counterfeit Indian currency detected in 2007-2008 increased by 137 percent. The vertical band on the right side of a Rs 500 note contains a latent image of the denomination in numeral. In a genuine note, the numeral 500 in the centre is printed in color-shifting ink.
