Abstract

The article reports on the results of research which was conducted in an effort to examine the effects of cognitive behavior therapy relative to enhanced usual care in older adults with generalized anxiety disorder in primary care. Researchers conducted a randomized clinical trial on 134 older adults in two primary care settings. researchers found that cognitive behavior therapy improved worry severity, depressive symptoms and general mental health and that there was no difference in generalized anxiety disorder severity in patients receiving either type of treatment.
