Abstract

The article presents a profile and analysis of the religious identity of the American photorealist artist Audrey Flack through an overview of her personal background and a survey of the religious and social subjects explored within her artistic output. It is asserted that while her use of religious imagery is widely recognized, her Jewish identity is frequently overlooked. Examination of several works by Flack is provided along with quotations from the artist in order to further explore the broader religious subjects and Jewish mentality expressed within them.
