Abstract: A country report for Egypt as of March 2009 is presented. Social discontent in the country will be affected by a slowdown in the domestic economy. The government's economic reform is aimed at raising living standards and job creation. It expects a 3.8% gross domestic product (GDP) growth in 2008-09. The government is also expected to meet its full-year budget targets based on figures released by the Ministry of Finance for the first seven months of 2008-09.
