Abstract

The article focuses on the technological and chronological aspects of the Torgazhak tradition in the Altai-Sayan Highland. It discusses the excavations at Tytkesten brook conducted by A. L. Kungurov and N. Yu Kungurova from 1984 to 1986, and by a team led by Yu. F. Kiryushin from 1988 to 1994, which showed the complexity of the site's stratigraphy. The site revealed an artifact assemblage which is believed to have been formed due to mechanical mixture of Neolithic and Chalcolithic artifacts. It provides a description of a schist plate which was also found during excavation, as well as information gathered from the microscopic examination of the plate.
