Abstract

The article presents a study regarding three different cheese packages consist of completely polypropylene (P1), tin and polythylene (P2), and carton (P3) using a comparative life cycle assessment (LCA). It notes that cheese production is a composite process where various reactions occur during the maturation and storage procedures. The process observed will affect the texture, flavor, and other physical and chemical properties of cheese. The study carries out several methods and materials including the functional unit wherein a 1 kilogram of cheese was chosen, inventory analysis, and impact assessment. The result shows that P1 and P2 packaging types are environmentally favorable than P3.
