Commentary: Use Of Bone Turnover Markers in the Real World: Are We There Yet?

The article comments on the use of serum and urine markers of bone turnover to identify patients at risk for osteoporosis and a paper by Glover and colleagues that is in this issue of the "Journal of Bone & Mineral Research." The author argues that bone-turnover markers cannot be considered accurate unless the different laboratories where they are processed are cross-calibrated.
