Abstract

The article discusses the findings of a study on adiponectin gene and its expression in two different breeds of pigs, namely the large white (LW) and the Casertana (CE). Under the study, deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA), ribonucleic acid (RNA), and protein extracts from 10 LW and 10 CE pigs were analyzed using methods such as sequence analysis and western blotting. Sexual dimorphism of adiponectin were identified in both breeds. The study found that the production of adiponectin was more abundant in LW compared with CE.
