Evaluation of Iron Deficiency As a Nutritional Adaptation to Infectious Disease: An Evolutionary Medicine Perspective.

The article discusses the result of a study which evaluated iron deficiency as a nutritional adaptation to infectious disease. The research examines the association between infection, iron status and zinc protoporphyrin to heme ratio and concluded that iron deficiency may protection children against acute infection.
