Abstract

The article offers information on the use of fabricated zirconia abutments for dental implants. It is stated that there are several issues that will influence whether using prefabricated abutment is apt or a customized abutment is a better option, including the appropriate positioning of three-dimensional implant, space between the implant and the adjoining teeth, and consequence of grinding or polishing of zirconia. It is reported that one of the most inspiring reasons for using the prefabricated abutments, particularly when they can be placed during surgery, is related to the crestal bone remodeling around the implant collar, which predictably reduces. It is further stated that it reduces the risk of slump in the progressive facial tissue caused by prosthetic dis- and reconnections.
