Abstract
- The article reports on the relationship of indigenous bacteria to periodontal disease. The microorganisms present in the mouth are capable of inciting anaerobic infections which are comparable to periodontal disease. A study was conducted using guinea pigs with the bacterial populations of spirochetes, fusobacterium, vibrios, spirilla, bacteroides species, streptococci, and diphtheroids. The combination of bacteria bacteroides melaninogenicus and diphtheroid created periodontal disease.
