WHEN ECONOMISTS COLLIDE.

The author reports on the 2009 annual meeting of the American Economic Association which was held in San Francisco, California in January 2009. Speculation that was raised at the conference regarding the future of the U.S. economy is discussed. Comparisons were made at the conference to the economic problems being faced by the U.S. in 2009 to economic problems faced by Japan in the 1990s.
