Abstract
- The article states that California has filed a lawsuit against the U.S. government in an attempt to block amendments to the Endangered Species Act that environmentalists believe will threaten animals and their habitats. These changes, which were finalized by the administration of U.S. President George W. Bush, allow federal agencies to engage in commercial activities, such as mining and logging, without having an environmental assessment first performed.
