A rare cause of portal hypertension.

Abstract: The article presents a case of 63-year old woman with increasing abdominal distension for several months and acute onset breathlessness. The woman had experienced a single episode of jaundice and underwent precutaneous liver biopsy. Clinical examinations showed tachypnoea, a clear chest and moderate ascites with no stigma of chronic liver disease. Later in her admission, she suffered a significant fresh hematemesis.
