Abstract

The article features the endemic cyprinid fish specie Chondrostoma knerii Heckel also known as Podustva in Croatia and Bosnia & Herzegovina. It presents the conservation status, taxonomy, distribution, abundance, habitat and ecology, conservation actions done toward the fish specie. Meanwhile, the fish is noted to be endangered in Croatia due to the hydrological changes of the environmental quality in Neretva River and the presence of the pest species Lepomis gibbosus and Gymnocephalus cernuus.
