Abstract

The article focuses on the study of Changwan Seo of the University of Seoul, South Korea which examines four models of spatial scales for estimating land availability of sanctuaries. Results showed increased tendency to overestimate habitat models in bigger grid sizes. Sanctuaries for certain species of plants and animals are thus overrated by two to three times within more than 16 by 16 kilometers grid sizes. The study suggests that conservationists should apply models with smaller grid lines.
