Abstract: The article offers a report about the Literacy Initiative for Empowerment program by UNESCO. The program supports national literacy policies and program that intends to enable women and girls, in particular in rural areas. Through the program, UNESCO facilitates a process of collaborative action designed to equipped national and international commitments to literacy, to strengthen capacities for the articulation of sustainable policies and program delivery, and to improve countries' innovative initiatives and practices in providing literacy learning opportunities.
