Abstract

The article provides information on the development of the musical activities of Cuban writer Alejo Carpentier in Havana, Cuba and Paris, France. It says that the early years of the musical career of Carpentier received little attention. It tells that he conducted the first concerts of new music and wrote scenarios on Afro-Cuban subjects in Havana in 1920s. It states that he joined to sign the Minorista manifesto which is the same with the propagation of the ideals of avant-garde. It mentions that he met and become close to various musical and literary artists on his travel. It also presents a little background about his life.
