Abstract
- The article discusses an equilibrium and kinetic study on the use of activated carbons as adsorbents in removing acid blue 15 (AB-15) from aqueous solution. Experimental parameters such as temperature, adsorbent dosage, pH, initial dye concentration and contact time were evaluated with the use of batch adsorption techniques. It was found that the optimum conditions for the removal of AB-15 is a pH level of 3, adsorbent dosage of 3 g/L and an equilibrium time of four hours at 30°C. Also, the adsorption of AB-15 onto the adsorbent was found to be directly related to the dosage. Moreover, the Langmuir isotherm was observed to fit data better than the Freundlich and Temkin isotherms.
