Abstract

The article discusses the issue on water scarcity. The United Nations World Water Assessment Programme notes that 7 billion people in 60 countries will likely cope with water scarcity by 2050. It also cites figures from the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) which indicates the increasing trade of virtual water, as well as the water efficiency of the Netherlands, Great Britain and Uruguay. Moreover, it mentions the move of governments in rethinking their water management policies.
