Abstract

Chapter XXXI of the book "Dogs and All About Them" is presented. It explores the general improvement of the Bull-Terrier dog during the nineteenth century and new breeds, like the alert and agile little dogs that are excellent for work in the country. It indicates that the breed was neither a true terrier nor a true Bulldog, but the dog served its immediate purpose and was highly valued for its pertinacity. A general description of the Bull-Terrier dog is also presented.
