Abstract

Book I, Chapter XXXVIII of the book "Discourses on the First Decade of Titus Livius" is presented. It attempts to recognize the prudence and magnanimity of the Roman senate in Italy to determine the course of their country should take. It states that the course made by irresolute republics may depend more on necessity than choice.
