Abstract: Book 1, Chapter 8 of the book "Conscience" is presented. It explores the life of doctor Saniel, an intelligent individual and a son of peasants who did everything to raise himself in the medical field and in the inconsiderate society in France. This chapter also presents the conversation between him and his love interest Mademoiselle Phillis Cormier about his plans to return to Auvergne and become a country doctor.
