Abstract
- Book 5 of "The Odyssey" is presented. It explores Ulysses and the nymph Calypso's voyage towards Scheria, the land of the Phaeacians who are near of kin to the gods. The supreme god Jove is said to have ordered the messenger god Mercury to tell Calypso to sail to Scheria along with Ulysses on a raft for twenty long days. Calypso to her dismay, was trembling in rage over the gods, claiming that the gods are always envious and hate seeing a goddess having an affair with a mortal man.
