The article focuses on the understanding of the terms and meanings and conceptualization of the scholarship of engagement in higher education. It discusses research and conceptual as well as philosophical articles that introduce motivation and professional discourses about faculty engagement in public scholarship. It also points on the effects of faculty engagement in this type of scholarship on the dimensions of faculty work.
