Sustainable Industrial Development.

The article presents the opinion of the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) on sustainable development as a driving force for industrial change. The committee says that sustainability constitutes the only possible course of action in the future and that the concept of sustainability should embrace economic and social sustainability, which Europe can contribute by strengthening competitiveness through innovation and stimulation of research and development by active policy. According to the commission, sustainability must reach global dimension.
