Abstract

The article reports on 2008 rain in Australia which signaled a slow tide of change to its parched lands. It mentions the rain in central droughts, one of the worst drought-hit place in Australia. It offers information on the rains on Naree, a 14,000 hectare pastoral property owned by Paul Kaluders, Debbie Kaluders and their kids. Its lakes and wetlands provide suitable nesting habitat for wetland birds and support ecological life. It cites the Narran System which is fed by the Narran River which, in full flow, inundates two large lakes and extensive flood-plains. Overallocation of the water of Murray-Darling Basin in Canberra, Australian Capital Territory, reportedly underpins biodiversity losses and damage to the environment. The waters of Lake Wyara have spread across 8 km in 2008. INSETS: CHILDREN OF THE FLOODS;BURIED TREASURE.
