Abstract

The article discusses the handwriting recognition-based interfaces in intelligent tutoring systems for students learning algebra equations. The handwriting recognition aims to improve student performance and engagement in Algebra thru intelligent tutoring systems (ITS) that accepts natural handwriting input. It says that many schools in the U.S. incorporate computers, including PDAs or tablet PCs, and ITSs as part of classroom's instructions. It also says that handwriting input has benefits both for general usability and for learning.
