Abstract
- The article focuses on a resolution adopted by a Society of Young Gentlemen in Connecticut in their constitution in 1833. It is stated that members shall not be permitted to marry illiterate women under any circumstances. The consequence of forty old maids removing to the western country in despair is also given.
