Abstract

The article presents information on the revenue being earned by the United States Golf Association by organizing the 2008 U.S. Open Championship at Torrey Pines State Reserve, California and the 2009 Championship in Bethpage, New York. According to the sources, last week's Open is expected to exceed $100 million in revenue. At Torrey Pines, the ticket sales generated $20 million. It is stated that the advantage of Torrey Pines over Bethpage was that it was three times zones farther west.
